Frequently asked questions about rap promotion
Where can I promote rap in 2026?
The most effective places are platforms dedicated to the rap scene — ShowRap (free upload of tracks from YouTube and Spotify, automatic exposure in the New / Top of the week / Hot sections), Spotify playlists, short formats on TikTok and Reels, discussions in Discord and online communities, and music news sites. The fastest results come from combining a ShowRap profile + 2–3 short clips with a hook per day + pitching playlist curators.
How do I add a rap track on ShowRap?
Go to showrap.com/add-track, log in (registration is free and takes 30 seconds), paste a YouTube or Spotify link, and add a title, description and genre tags (e.g. boom bap, trap, drill, conscious). The track goes straight to the New section and is visible to all visitors. You can also add your own thumbnail — tracks with good cover art have on average 2.3× higher CTR.
Is ShowRap free?
Yes — adding tracks, beats and articles is 100% free. There are no paid plans: the Hot section on the home page is filled automatically with the tracks that got the most attention over the last week. A free account gives full access to the community, private messages, favorites and commenting.
How do I increase the reach of a rap track?
Three pillars: (1) distribution — publish the track on YouTube, Spotify, ShowRap and TikTok within 24 hours; (2) content around the track — a snippet with a strong hook (8–15 s), behind-the-scenes from the recording, a lyric video, a freestyle over the same verse; (3) community — answer every comment in the first 48 h, join discussions in the Community section on ShowRap, and build relationships with 10 other rappers instead of chasing 1,000 anonymous listeners.
Where can I buy beats for rap?
ShowRap has two sections: /beats (a store with beats from independent producers — lease prices start low) and /free-beats (free for non-profit use, ideal to start with). Every beat has an audio preview, BPM, key and producer contact. You can filter by genre (trap, boom bap, drill, R&B, lo-fi) and mood.
How do I break through in rap starting from zero?
A realistic plan for the first 6 months: months 1–2 — master home recording (a ~$80 microphone, Reaper for free, acoustic panels for ~$40). Month 3 — release your first track + 5 TikTok clips. Months 4–6 — consistency: 1 track every 3 weeks, 3 clips per week, daily commenting on other rappers at your level. Consistency > talent.
